  • Jacqueline Pie Francis

    Jacqueline Pie Francis is a jazz vocalist and singer-songwriter. She’s a past recipient of a prestigious grant from Passim Center for the Arts, and has headlined in major venues in DC, New York, and Boston. She works as personal chef in Northern Virginia and makes a lot of pies.

    Pat has been making music on guitar for over three decades. He has a masters certificate in guitar from Berklee School of Music and performs in various straight-ahead and contemporary jazz bands in the DMV.

    Spice Cake blends Yaya Patterson’s vocals with Miles Spicer’s acoustic guitar to create a tasty blues treat. Miles has been a part of the Washington, DC area acoustic blues scene since the 1990’s.  Yaya has played music from a young age   She studied music therapy and jazz voice at a collegiate level and, in addition, is a songwriter and guitarist.  Yaya’s youthful, exuberant energy and Miles’ extensive experience, especially playing Piedmont blues, are Spice Cake’s key ingredients, and their performances of original songs and blues standards alike will leave you wanting more.

  • Elena La Fulana

    Elena La Fulana is a Latin Grammy-nominated instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and leader of the DC-based bilingual Latin-folk band Elena & Los Fulanos. Originally from Managua, Nicaragua, Elena identifies as both American and Nicaraguan and her music, which ranges from twangy, heartbreak-themed folk Americana, to soothing, introspective, violin-infused Latin cumbia, reflects this dual identity. Her band, Elena & Los Fulanos, has twice been nominated for a Wammie-award, and their most recent album, Volcán, was hailed as "a bilingual folk album for the resistance" by the Washington City Paper, a publication that also selected Elena for their People Issue 2017 highlighting notable Washingtonians. Most recently, Elena has been touring with the Latin-Grammy winning and Grammy nominated band Flor de Toloache, and with them performed at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2019 and the Latin Grammys in 2021.

  • Sol Roots

    The Sol Roots band performs a mix of New Orleans influenced funk, deep blues, energetic rock, greasy soul, and hypnotic rhythms. Sol is a fierce guitarist and soulful vocalist who has toured around the world with many musical legends.

    The Sol Roots band has shared the stage with acts such as Jon Cleary, Cory Henry, Eric Lindell, Dumpstaphunk, The Wood Brothers, Sonny Landreth, Roosevelt Collier, New Orleans Suspects, Shemekia Copeland, and many more.

    The trio includes super solid drummer Vic Chase, and bass maestro Andreas Holmstrom.

    Sol Roots is an official Home Grown Music Network artist and a "Next Generation" Music Maker Foundation artist.
